Its close enough I don't think anyone would notice had I not pointed it out. Still, I like to point this stuff out.Mikey Riveyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16645306703214894577noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-956154275711415107.post-67864507435744962802011-08-04T11:07:04.236-04:002011-08-04T11:07:04.236-04:00I played an EDH game for prizes on the Tuesday bef...I played an EDH game for prizes on the Tuesday before the pre-constructed decks were released. It was only my second time playing EDH, so I was playing a very poor Borborygmos deck, with a very mild graveyard and token theme (Odyssey block flashback/threshold stuff). We played two 4 person games, and the top 2 in each pod played another 4 person game, and everyone got at least a stock foil card of their choice (from leftovers from FNMs I think).

In the first game I allied with the guy who won. It went like this, "if you don't attack me right now, I'll kill you last." That was fine with me, I knew my deck sucked.

In the final game though, a guy gained total control when he started to combo off and force everyone to mill their whole deck.

He used Mind Over Matter, Arcanis the Omnipotent, and Temple Bell to force everyone to draw their entire decks. He of course had an Elixir of Immortality, to continuously recycle his graveyard into his library. Because I had attacked his friend, he forced me to lose first by casting Blue Sun's Zenith on me for like 20. I would have come in 2nd otherwise (And won a booster pack. Ooh, piece of candy!), as I had like no card draw, and had the fattest library.

So, maybe Mill isn't too popular, but I was exposed to it in the 3rd EDH game I ever played. And I was milled out in a few games playing Standard back when Odyssey block was new, too. So, this wasn't the first time I'd lost to the strategy.Mikey Riveyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16645306703214894577noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-956154275711415107.post-14666937041288511432011-08-03T14:31:18.340-04:002011-08-03T14:31:18.340-04:00What about the new Jace? :)

That said, a few points:

Mesmeric Orb is sad not to be invited to your milling party. I hear people occasionally tap lots of things in this game to play large other things, some of which come into play tapped. I'm just saying.

Other guys who are fun in Mill decks: The black Join Forces card; the blue guy from the Mimeoplasm deck who mills whenever someone attacks you (also acts as a rattlesnake effect!); Leyline of the Void (screw you, reanimator players!); Forced Fruition (probably want to play Arcane Lab if you're playing this one); Altar of Dementia (yes, you CAN use it on other players! I was shocked too).

Oona is TBH probably a better mill general than Szadek, assuming your opponents are playing any blockers/removal at all, but I recognize that optimization is not the point of this deck. Still might be worth including as a non-general card-- my Sen Triplets deck runs Sharuum in the deck, because I don't want to get the cheeseball combo every game, but let's face it-- card's good.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10640352162465007706noreply@blogger.com
